With the world economic crisis still lingering in the minds of many in the US, some are seeking pastures new. And India seems to offer a better chance of living the American dream. Yet the financial perks come with pitfalls, as expats struggle with a huge culture shock. RT's Priya Sridhar went to see whether the grass really is greener on the other side.

This is an old story – Infosys has been bringing 100 college graduates every year for nearly 10 years now. And honestly, if they are working in the IT/BPO sector, they are probably doing work they would be doing in the USA for American companies. This is not widescale (what’s 100 Americans in a country of 1.1 billion?) and hardly benefits India – nearly all of the work is outsourced from the US/Europe and the only reason it is profitable because India is cheaper to operate in (lower wages).

@MrIndoCanadian Yeah indians are angels, I wasnt born yesterday I dont know about the US but I do know about the UK and here indians come here on a student visa pay the fee which are nearly 3 times more then UK students, get a job and leave their course and send money back to the shit hole for the family. they do 60-70 hours a week at the job, and thats how they stay in the UK for years on a student visa But sucks to be them the Home office knows what they are doing and starting sending them bac
